The sexiest thing in the world: 9-5 Giving in, giving up, being secretly trapped. Will you simply empty out?

Mum always said to me “The world is your oyster” - I once believed it and still do- yet I ask- What happens when you have conformed to one of the most creativity, money sucking activities of the 21st century? Dads answer is there is only one way to get ahead you need to borrow off the bank and get a job.

“When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world.”

Here’s a current screen shot of my bank account- not excluding the $1000 overdraft and $2000 due in rent.

And my student loan- ( heading to $50000) more about how the banks are screwing us here.

I agree with Chris Kutcher that the sexiest thing in the entire world is being really smart, and being thoughtful, and being generous. We have the opportunity to do this yet it gets dissipated from us in between everything else that is crap that people try to sell to us to make us feel like less.

99% of us leave high school and don’t have a fucken clue what to do next. I was one of them. And I had unlike a good percentage of the world something called options. Sometimes known as opportunities and its these opportunities which seem like hard work which turn into obligations.

Many of us now see university as a means to work out what it is we want to do. The cost in NZ is $50000 and 3-5 years of your life. If we where to in the USA it will equate to four times that in USD of $200000. We endure this debt because we see university as a means to getting a better life and finding what it is that tickles our fancy. What we don’t realise is after those four years we have a dire need to explore (wahoo the big OE) because we’re still searching for what tickles our fancy. When and if we do find this ticklish relief the IRD calls to alert us of being sabotaged into fallen prank to the biggest Ponzi scheme of all- slavery - in other words - debt or in other words giving up your life.

If your still reading then like you I’m a could be, but not A+ student and hence like you i am rather average, have average grades, attend an average university and surrounded by a fuck load of average people not much better then myself. So with job prospects on the downfall, an economy on the verge of collapse and the cost of energy rising - I beg the question of what should you do when you leave the dependancy institution and realise you have a debt and a slim chance of not just a job in your field but any job and you have a big tie stopping you from creating your own bit of art.

There are all these ponies like James Altucher, Seth Godin, Steve Jobs, Tim Ferris, Peter Theil and the list goes on…who allude us to alternatives to college and reasons not to go. Yet how are we meant to make shit happen and do what we love with $50000 dragging us back? Ie we didnt take the alternatives

I drunk the kool-aid and in the not to distinct future my safe haven (college) is gone.

It is fair to say we need a solution and a solution fast. So I’m standing up to say Hi this is me and I’m committed to finding an alternative to becoming subjected to modern day slavery and giving up the only life I will ever have. If your with me, feel free to become part or follow my journey on revolutionising the system.

There is a list of things I will not do
1- get any type of job - the reason being that as I have proven if you click here, there are in fact no jobs. And even if I search harder/longer and find one it means I can’t live for the next 60 years. Ie life.
2- I will not take money from my parents or live with them for over one week. - how boring can you become. And dependant ie needing to rely on someone for the rest of your life.
3- I will not get a PHD or Masters or what ever other course thing these “non for profit” educators offer. The last thing I want is more debt.
4- and this means I will not take out a bank loan or borrow any money for that matter from a lending institution.
5- I will not try be a screwy and take government grants, gifts or incentives or any other prize or competition that I will likely not win.

This means I have one option and that means to put the little resources I have into finding another bigger better solution. Be it a company, way to live without money or even a group that commits to helping all the average Jo’s out of not being able to live their lives.. For the next five months from my last law exam I will

- set out on a mission to find a solution.
- put none of my current money or your donations to paying off my debt.
- and share a weekly blog with you off my progress.

Your help will help me help you, your kids, your parents, friends, neighbour and every one else who’s fuller into this debt stricken system. Now lets create some crazy made value for others.

Steve Jobs famously said- “When you grow up, you tend to get told that the world is the way that it is. And that your life is to live your life inside the world, and try not to get in too much trouble, and maybe get an education, and get a job, and make some money and have a family. But life can be a lot broader than that when you realize one simple thing: that everything around us that we call life was made up by people that are no smarter than you. And you can build your own things. You can build your own life. Build a life. Don’t live one, build one.”

P.S. some of you will be thinking we are better off because we actually went to college and are lucky enough to have the “opportunity” - I beg to differ. Is paying a large some of money to the middle guy and bank to then chain yourself to a desk really an opportunity?? If you don’t get this then click here.
